Job Description

  • GENERAL SUMMARY

  • The Practice Manager (RN) is responsible for developing processes to assure evidence based clinical outcomes and patient safety initiatives. Facilitates a safe environment and just culture of patient safety through the development and management of activities that reduce the risk of injury to patients, visitors, and stakeholders and promotes reporting of events. Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other negotiated/assigned activities. Provides overall responsibility for designated service operations with 24-hour accountability. Seeks guidance from the Director and/or upper management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation from financial/operational policies and standards of practice. Responsible for the performance, and the overall management and operations of large, complex and/or multiple medical practices. Involves planning and overseeing of all operations and business related activities that may include, but not limited to, surgical and procedural scheduling, billing operations, registration, coding, auditing and reimbursement operations, credentialing, and other unique practice operations and financial practices. Reports to division leadership.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops strategies for frontline patient safety engagement and accountability.

  • Leads efforts associated with new knowledge and innovation including interdisciplinary quality initiatives (division specific quality improvement projects, Patient Satisfaction, and DNV surveys) evidence based practice projects and clinical research.

  • Delegates, supervises personnel, solves problems, makes decisions and develops systems and processes for successful integration and implementation.

  • Works collaboratively with department leadership regarding strategic planning, continuous quality improvement, financial/ budget reporting and monitoring.

  • Provides leadership, education, guidance, recognition, and professional development to personnel in order to support daily operations.

  • Manages work flow, performance, and overall practice operations achieving expert care, superb service, and maximum physician/staff productivity.

  • Solves problems, makes decisions, develops systems and processes for successful integration and implementation, utilizing organizational and analytical skills.

  • Delegates and supervises personnel; facilitates recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, performance review, corrective action, and competency of staff for performance of job roles.

  • Identifies potential problem areas, develops a system for objectively monitoring performance, and creatively seeks solutions to foster quality improvement.

  • Maintains physical environment and equipment for effective operations; anticipates and facilitates needs for repair, renovations, and/ or modifications of work environment and equipment for the effective provision of services.

  • Provides timely and appropriate resolution to patient, physician, personnel, vendor and organizational concerns or complaints.

  • Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other activities as assigned.

  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.

  • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

  • 2-3 years Healthcare/management experience preferred.

  • Pediatric experience preferred.

  • Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to plan, establish and maintain a professional work environment.

  • Ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational functions.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to direct subordinates and delegate tasks.

  • Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.

  • Technical and professional knowledge unique to the business and/or clinical operations of the designated services (Nursing, Financial, Human Resource, Information Systems, Risk, Governance, Regulations, Planning and Marketing).

  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to plan, manage, establish and maintain a professional work environment.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to direct subordinates and delegate tasks.

  • Must be highly organized with proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, prioritize workload, and manage resources and time effectively.

  • Ability to be flexible and travel locally to multiple practice sites.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
