Position Description
If you desire an opportunity to help the Navy and Military Sealift Command (MSC), Serco has a great opportunity for you! As an Naval Technical Writer, you will be on a team that is evaluating and managing the delivery of the latest in an established class of expeditionary seagoing vessels.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain/transfer your active Secret clearance pre-employment.
Serco supports the US Navy and MSC via a subcontract that leverages decades of experience with the acquisition and design of multiple ship platforms for both organizations.
You will be part of a team committed to providing demonstrated expertise in program management, engineering, logistics and post-delivery support. You will work closely with Government and industry professionals as well as shipbuilders and other support personnel. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and the safety of our sailors.
In this role, you will:
Support our Navy client by developing Navy-compliant technical manuals based on Vendor Furnished Information
Assist in the maintenance of ship configuration data
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years of Navy technical writing experience.
Must be able to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance pre-employment.
Must be US citizen.
Excellent writing skills
Ability to grasp technical / engineering data and assess it's compliance with Navy technical manual standards
10% travel required
Additional desired experience and skills:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering
Navy Provisioning experience
US Naval Shipbuilding, Amphibious Ship and/or Sealift Ship experience
