Maintenance Manager - Cedar Rapids, IA Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. They will be responsible for directing the maintenance programs and processes of the Cedar Rapids Plant to ensure timely and effective production. This position will be expected to collaborate effectively with all team members within the plant as well as support resources from corporate teams and other plants. _OBJECTIVES:_ * Conducts all management duties concerning training, counseling, performance appraisal and discipline involving personnel in the department. * Controls waste of materials and other direct and indirect costs to operate maintenance within budgeted costs. * Develops and maintains relationships with outside vendors, suppliers and contractors to ensure continuity of resources to effectively meet maintenance performance standards. * Manages and coordinates breakdown, corrective and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and optimize utilization. * Improve safety by ensuring equipment is 100% compliant to safety requirements. * Increase machine uptime efficiency as measured by existing metrics. * Reduce scrap as measured by existing EBITDA. * Maintains overall facilities internal and external and related activities. _DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:_ * Coordinates with other management staff to ensure efficiency in preventative maintenance and new equipment installations. * Develops and recommends equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis and proposals for integrating machinery, equipment and tooling into the manufacturing process. * Monitor and evaluate production efficiencies including but not limited to scrap generation, identifying ways to reduce scrap and ensuring product quality standards. * Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components. * Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and confirming fabrication, assembly and installation processes. * Provide necessary support to maintain and utilize the maintenance software to better coordinate work orders, repair requests, parts inventory and preventative maintenance schedule. * Leads and sets accountability in a way to ensure peak performance within the team and across the plant. * Trains employees concerning plant and job hazards and the methods in order to protect themselves. * Supports the Plant by recommending and implementing methods for eliminating waste such as restructuring jobs, reorganizing work flow, reallocating tools/equipment. * Effectively develops and improves existing equipment specifications, performance requirements, reduces machine downtime, and maintains/develops effective standard work. * Works closely with Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, and others to ensure compliance with regulations. _KEY RELATIONSHIPS:_ * Front-line Employees * Maintenance / Engineers within the plant and across Associated Materials. * Plant Manager and Plant Leadership Team * Corporate Safety and Operations Leadership Team _EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:_ * Bachelor's degree desired or equivalent work experience * Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance and process improvement in a manufacturing environment * Lean Mfg concepts including flow, kaizen, JIT, etc. * Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. * Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goads. * Performs a variety of tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. * Mechanical and technical aptitude for understanding of equipment functionality and capabilities.
