Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Ecologist for immediate employment in the Conshohocken, PA office.

The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with a team comprised of a variety of staff and project managers in support of AECOM's clients.

There are opportunities to work on large-scale projects or projects further afield than the typical project range if the candidate is interested.

Responsibilities

  • Leads field events for the collection of abiotic and biotic samples.

  • Operates, maintains, and trailers boats (14' - 20').

  • Compiles, evaluates, and analyzes environmental data.

  • Preparation of reports and other technical documents.

  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Participate in aspects of proposal preparation and scoping exercises, such as sourcing and seeking quotes from subcontractors/suppliers.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring the application of techniques and procedures.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Assists senior staff with business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Biology, or related field (e.g., environmental science, ecology) along with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Must be willing to travel for up to a week at a time.

  • This role is subject to MVR, Drug/Alcohol and Medical Surveillance checks

  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of environmental data collection, investigation, and interpretation

  • Boating experience is highly desirable

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.

  • Experience managing tasks and managing field teams.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.

  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.

  • Must be willing to travel for up to a week at a time.

  • Position requires field work, which involves work in rugged terrain and inclement weather conditions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certificate

  • Working knowledge of statistical software (e.g., R, ProUCL, etc.)

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $57,000.00 - $63,000.00.
