This is a construction position with the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. Candidates must be able to perform construction work on new and existing buildings, shelters, aquatic facilities, and parks.This position performs a variety of construction trades including carpentry, concrete work, roofing, and masonry work.The Construction Technician position performs metal fabrication using a wide variation of equipment such as welders, cutting torch, plasma cutter, and hand tools.Ideal candidates will be able to operate a wide variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment associated with the construction trades, as well as operate surveying equipment and laser levels necessary for grading and the construction of walkways and structures. During winter months when there is inclement weather, this position assists with snow removal in the park system. This position will also perform other related duties as assigned.Candidates should have a Class B Commercial Driver License with air brake endorsement or the ability to acquire within 6 months of hire.This is a full-time position with benefits and an annual salary range of $34,694-$44,283.Position hours Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with varying weekend responsibilities.
