PenFed is hiring a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the availability and configuration of PenFed's Data Centers, LAN rooms, and UPS systems. The incumbent will be responsible for developing floor plans, performing electrical & HVAC assessments, maintaining rack-mount UPS solutions, structured cabling, department documentation and standards.
Responsibilities

Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining systems, application software and system management tools.
Provide technical support for enterprise systems. Troubleshoot, repair and recover from system failures in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Develop and maintain accurate documentation via the use of flowcharts, diagrams, and other relevant tools.
Perform routine operational tasks, verifying the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all resources, systems, and key processes.
Review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs.
Interact with senior engineers to identify areas of improvement for operational efficiency.
Accountable for delivering all assigned tasks and projects.
Comply with Security, Incident Management and Change Management procedures and reporting practices.
Remain an active learner in technologies related to your domain.
Work closely with technical and non-technical personnel within and across PenFed departments and vendors.
Participate in on-call 24x7 support as needed in the event of system outage or failure.
Area Specific Responsibilities
Complete projects by coordinating resources and timetables with the business unit stakeholders and other IT teams.
Design and maintain PenFed's Data Center and LAN room infrastructure per TIA standards. Coordinate and manage all space and power planning.
Maintain documentation and monitoring systems for PenFed's Data Center, LAN room and UPS systems.
Verify performance of provided services by conducting system audits and reviewing established metrics.
Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenances in accordance with established Change Management procedures.
Maintain facility floor plans, rack elevations, and structured cabling using Device42.
Maintain the lifecycle and uptime of PenFed IT's UPS systems (rack-mounted APC systems).
Coordinate and schedule hardware installations, relocations, and removal. Provide guidance for cable management and ensure security protocols are followed.
Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures, participate in required exercises, and reinforcing existing information security and control structures.
Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identify problems, evaluate trends, and anticipate requirements.
Provide oversight of vendors performing data center facilities and distributed computing equipment and software maintenance. Schedule and document all associated work.
Accomplish overall corporate and internal IT financial objectives by forecasting demand for services, prepare an annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective action.
Serve as a contact for data center issues (in-house and co-located).
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
In lieu of a degree, combination of education and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience is required that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to perform all the essential job functions.
Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience working in data center infrastructure and associated distributed environments.
Experience maintaining Data Center and LAN room env. using Device42 preferred.
Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Space/Capacity Planning
Facilities Maintenance
Inventory/Asset System Maintenance
Data Center Environmental Facilities and Support Functions
Extensive customer service experience
Prior vendor management experience.
IT technical knowledge and ability to assist with IT equipment services. (i.e., Power On/Off equipment upon request; replace equipment such as servers and disc drives, and ability to move equipment cables).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
Effective time management, problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
Strong problem solving and analytic skills.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call is required.
