As an Accounting Analyst (internally known as Staff Accountant I Legal Entity) in the Lafayette Engine team at Caterpillar, you will have the opportunity to independently perform staff level accounting functions that deal with accounting issues of normal complexity to support business processes and provide further experience with Caterpillar accounting practices.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
This position is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Caterpillar plant accounting processes. Additionally, responsibilities may include:
Participating in and/or lead the development and supporting business process improvements as part of the Global Finance Strategy
Communicating effectively within the team and with internal customers and data providers
Financial Accounting including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis
Inventory Accounting and Standard Cost Revision
General Ledger / Legal Entity Reporting and Analysis
Support and maintain internal controls and procedures, including Sarbanes-Oxley control and compliance
Coordinating and collecting government survey data
Have a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar's business and accounting practices, systems and procedures, specifically inventory and costing
Apply accounting knowledge and provide guidance on accounting issues
Basic Requirements:
4-year degree in accounting OR any 4-year degree with an accounting certification (CPA/CMA)
1-2 years of progressively responsible job-related experience
Top Candidate Will Also Have:
Proven record of success and accomplishments at lower levels
Demonstrated strong leadership, initiative, inter-personal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrated strong analytical, process improvement and problem-solving competencies
