Purpose of the Position Includes but is not limited to developing and implementing plans for community based health care plans and programs for different local communities making up the plant employment base. Develop, implement and help manage specific community health programs aimed at improving the team member community's overall health and wellness. Manage nursing staff in the daily Occupational Health and Nursing activities associated with supporting plant team members and plant operations by administering prescribed medical treatment, processing medical paperwork, conducting medical follow-up, review of new team member assignments, scheduling and attending Team member outside medical visits as appropriate, dispensing allowed medication, and following worker's compensation procedures.Essential Position Responsibilities Team Member Community Health. Responsible for developing plans for community-based health programs aimed at the prevention of disease and promotion of health in the communities of our team members. Collaborating with Community leaders develops health initiatives and best practices. Being a Community Health Manager may require identifying and applying for community health program related grant funding and developing grant proposals. Manages specific community health programs from planning and design through implementation and evaluation.Occupational Health and Nursing Leadership and Training. Supervises the daily activities of the nursing staff to maintain discipline, teamwork, and safety. Responsible for the nursing staff's daily functions and duties assuring that the Occupational Health staff function allowed within the scope of their medical licensure. Provides medical-related training as needed to management and team members. Accomplishes all paperwork in accordance with applicable state nurse practice acts, OSHA recordkeeping and Department of Labor timekeeping for nursing staff. Implement standardized Occupational Health and Nursing program and practice as required by the Simmons Foods, Occupational Health standard for nursing staff. Provides new Occupational Health and Nursing team orientation for new Occupational Health team members as needed.Provide Nursing Care and Activities . Provides occupational health and nursing needs to team members on a walk-in-basis as prescribed in the Simmons Occupational Health Protocols. Performs Occupational health treatment and emergency first aid to all team members as required by the Simmons Occupational Health Protocols. Conducts all required drug screens on team members. Manage and order Occupational Health center treatment supplies and first aid supplies for the facility. .Reporting and Processes . Follows up on active team member incidents involving injuries and illnesses. Processes paperwork for OSHA, workers compensation insurance and other associated plant operations. Assure that all workers compensation first reports of injury claims are filed thoroughly and in a timely manner. Communicates with all management personnel routinely. Completes incident reports and investigations as necessary. Participates as an active member in the Plant Social Accountability Team. Assists with new team member orientation and onboarding as needed. Conducts and provides oversight of required drug screens for all pre-employment applicants and current team members.Emergency Preparedness. Is a primary member of the plant Emergency Response organization by developing actionable emergency medical and health plans to be implemented during Chemical, Emergency Medical Incidents, large population Health emergencies including epidemic and pandemic emergencies.Communication and Relationships . Communicates effectively at all levels from team members to management to physicians, and to the local communities in both written and verbal manner.
