What We're Looking For
HNTB Pennsylvania's environmental and planning practice is growing! To support this growth, HNTB is seeking a highly motivated Planner III looking for increased responsibility who is ready to take the next step in their career. In this position you will lead planning and environmental studies for transit, rail and roadway projects for clients including SEPTA, AMTRAK, PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and City of Philadelphia. This position will assist in directing small-scale planning projects and portions of larger projects from concept development through project completion. Primary Focus Will Include:
Lead planning studies for transportation, rail and transit projects for HNTB Pennsylvania's clients including AMTRAK, SEPTA, PennDOT, PA Turnpike, the Philadelphia Airport and the City of Philadelphia.
Apply planning and analysis strategies using tools, such as GIS, to manipulate data, assess alternatives and outcomes, and develop figures/displays to effectively communicate the findings of analyses.
Analyze alternatives, evaluate impacts/benefits of projects and make recommendations.
Develop community engagement programs to obtain feedback from and inspire partnership with stakeholders and the public on challenging infrastructure projects.
Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
5-years experience developing planning studies for transportation project or similar related field.
Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer in Training (EIT), American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP)

Essential Responsibilities:
Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.
Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.
Investigates, evaluates, and provides recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
Participates in client meetings and interactions.
Leads preparation of maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.
Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.
Participates in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects
Writes major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
Participates in public process and stakeholder facilitation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 4 years related professional experience
Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of relevant experience
