A Quality Engineer in Caterpillar's Large Power and Systems Division (LPSD) conducts investigations and analyses which contribute to the development and implementation of methods, procedures and equipment that ensure quality standards for large engines and components. They provide support for supplier and internal quality areas by leading on quality development and certification of processes, production quality problems resolution, and deviation administration.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with all employees to improve quality practices in their processes through quality manner such as providing quality support on castings, working directly with CMO on continuous improvement and resolving issues, facility casting expertise and assisting with deviation escalation.

  • Develops plans and tools that are used reduction of internal and external defects. Primary support area is machining.

  • Function in a staff capacity in a particular phase of Quality Assurance responsibilities throughout the facility, performing audits, improvements of processes and customer satisfaction.

  • Proactively develop quality related control methodologies. Encourage the implementation of the established systems.

  • Quickly and correctly identify problems which may not be obvious. Solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing AND 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment OR

  • Bachelor's degree Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing AND 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment OR

  • 6 years of relevant work experience.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field

  • Strong ability to influence with all levels of employees and customers, especially with leadership management employees.

  • Knowledge and experience with ETQ, Microsoft Office and Power Bi
