Purpose of the Position Supervise nursing staff in the daily activities associated with supporting plant employees and plant operations in addition to providing support to employees in the facility by administering First Aid, processing medical paperwork, conducting physical exams and urine tests for substance abuse testing, dispensing over the counter medication, and following worker's compensation procedures.Essential Position Responsibilities Leadership and Training. Supervises the daily activities of the nursing staff to maintain discipline, teamwork, and safety. Responsible for the nursing staff's daily functions and duties. Provides medical-related training as needed to management and employees. Accomplishes all paperwork in accordance with recordkeeping and timekeeping for nursing staff. Sets up standardized safety/nursing programs for nursing staff. Provides orientation for new medical personnel as needed.Provide Nursing Care and Activities. Uses First Aid equipment for employee health checks. Provides minor nursing needs to employees on a walk-in-basis. Performs emergency first aid to all employees who require it. Conducts all necessary drug screens on pre-employment and current employees. Orders first aid supplies for the facility.Reporting and Processes. Follows up on active employee incidents involving injuries and illnesses. Processes paperwork for OSHA, insurance and plant operations. Processes and files insurance claims for the facility. Communicates with all management personnel routinely. Completes incident reports and investigations as necessary. Assists with new employee orientation as needed. Conducts and provides oversight of required drug screens for all pre employment applicants and current employees. Completes incident reports and investigations as necessary.Communication and Relationships. Communicates effectively at all levels from employees to management to physicians, both written and verbal. Communicates with doctors and hospitals regarding medical/worker's compensation claims.Manages employees. Directs and supervises employees' work activities and monitors work performance. Collaborates with Human Resources to screen, interview and hire candidates. Administers disciplinary actions and recommends performance improvement actions in collaboration with the HR Manager. Monitors work performance and recommends compensation decisions based on guidelines. Follows Simmons values to develop and maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees.
