Southern Company is seeking an experienced and passionate technical analyst to join our Technology Security organization. This is a hands-on technical leadership role that requires the ability to self-direct and lead engagements to find evidence of suspicious behavior, adversarial behavior, or unauthorized access across multi-organization data sets. Specifically, this position offers the chance to be collocated with personnel from multiple private energy companies, national labs, and US government in a cybersecurity threat analysis center focused on risks to IT and OT environments. Working with daily access to cross-functional expertise and datasets, drive the future of what collective cyber defense should be. Break new ground in preparing for and responding to cyber threats that could compromise the reliability of US energy systems. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be physically present to collaborate with other companies and government personnel in a collocated space with both classified and unclassified capabilities
Serve as a conduit for investigative exchange, starting with internal company SOC data and process, and moving outward to correlate with what other partner organizations are detecting
Develop threat hunting and detection campaigns jointly with partner organizations and internal SOC personnel
Lend expertise to collaborative response actions based on cyber incidents
Communicate findings with diverse audiences, including executive leadership
Assist leadership in turning pilot activities into repeatable, sustainable, and broader programs/systems/activities
Teach and mentor other technical analysts and intelligence analysts
Become knowledgeable about cybersecurity for ICS and other operational systems utilized in the energy sector
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in computer science, technology, engineering or security-related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional security experience, or seven (7) years with Master's degree
Conversancy with nation state and supply chain threats
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with nominal oversight
Experience investigating and analyzing cyber threats
Experience with threat hunting or detection engineering in a SOC environment
Demonstrable experience working across the cyber security community
Must be willing to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance. Current clearance highly desirable.
Must be willing to travel to Atlanta, GA and Washington, D.C. periodically as required by job duties
