Job Summary:
At Caterpillar's South Milwaukee, WI facility, we manufacture large surface mining equipment and components supporting the Electric Rope Shovel and Dragline products. In this role as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Associate, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will be primarily responsible for the creation, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs and associated policies and regulations. As a member of the Safety & Environmental team, you will help support our production welding, machining, assembly, and material handling operations as well as facility safety and environmental programs and initiatives. Candidates should have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and willing to help build a robust safety culture.
What you will do:
Work with both support management team members and production employees to create and maintain safe manufacturing work practices, instructions, and policies.
Contribute to the continued development and improvement of EHS policies and procedures.
Conduct risk assessments, FMEA's, and audits to identify and address hazards in work areas and processes.
Perform inspections and/or tests to monitor or evaluate specific EHS issues, regulations, and company practices.
Lead and assist in employee training on EHS guidelines, company policies and procedures, and industry regulations pertaining to EHS.
Make and maintain necessary EHS records according to established company or regulatory guidelines.
Prepare for emergency situations according to EHS policy.
Replace hazardous materials with environmentally friendly ones where appropriate.
Complete forms and incident investigations and reports after detecting risks, hazards, or injuries in the workplace.
What Skills you will have:

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Determines criteria for assessing vendors which may have potential environmental impact.
- Formulates health and safety plans and policies, e.g. a fire safety plan and road safety policy.
- Trains employees on HSE policy compliance and measures understanding.
- Designs an incident report form and reporting procedures for EHS management.
- Collaborates across multiple departments to facilitate EHS management.
- Controls pollution and minimizes waste of materials, energy and water within the organization.
