Job Description:
The Factory to Field Systems Engineer implements complex IT systems that satisfy specific customer requirements. Systems involve L3Harris and vendor equipment, and typically include IP networks, linux and windows virtual machines, RF Base Station & Repeater equipment, and/or other custom subsystems.
The successful candidate will implement systems based on proven and approved designs. The candidate will have ability to implement approved system designs. The candidate will be responsible for solid, consistent deployments, maintaining high standards of security, availability, and performance for public safety communications systems. The candidate shall be able to provide leadership to other members of the implementation team and define engineering schedules.
The successful candidate will aggressively resolve customer issues, deliver clear and concise statements of work for sub-contractors, and continually improve execution via tollgate processes. The candidate shall execute implementations utilizing L3Harris standard operating procedures. The candidate will work closely with program management to provide early identification and resolution of problem areas on the project. The candidate shall identify and facilitate activities with vendors, escalation teams, and other teams within L3Harris.
Essential Functions:
Implementing, and support complex IP-Based radio system networks
Implementing Information Assurance products for customer Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems
Maintaining documentation & configuration revision control
Following established ISO processes via tollgate system
Drive improvement in the program implementation process by actively participating in every phase of the design, staging, configuration and implementation of L3Harris Land Mobile Radio systems, with an emphasis, on streamlining program operations
Be involved in technical planning, system integration, functional verification, performance validation, and process improvement vs cost/risk analysis
Participate in discussions with customers, consultants, vendors and other L3Harris personnel as necessary to advance projects
Work early in the contracting process to identify possible issues in the as offered design and offer potential solutions
Additionally, may respond to proposal text, and offer material content that effectively describes the system and special equipment being offered
Approximately 75% time will be spent in factory staging and verification and 25% field travel
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years prior experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 6 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Technical experience in Land Mobile Radio, telecommunications or related field
Practical hands-on field experience in RF/LMR system design, staging, configuration and implementation of complex radio systems.
Experience in design of IP networks, RF antenna systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration is desired.
Able to work within a cross-functional team environment.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
Professional certifications (e.g. Network+, Security+, Linux+, CCNA) are a plus
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent project tasks and prioritize them appropriately
Has clear & concise ability to communicate issues in a less technical sense to management and business
Demonstrate leadership skills which include customer focus, change management, teamwork, diversity, and integrity
Self-motivated team player, able to set priorities and manage to deadlines
Excellent trouble-shooting, communication and customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to proactively resolve problems
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area and New York City, the salary range for this role is $77,500 - $143,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
