Summary You will serve as a Mail Assistant in the Naval District Washington, Regional Postal Division of Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF. Responsibilities You will receive, sort, collect, meter postage, process, deliver, and direct the distribution of incoming and outgoing U.S. Mail. You will ensure all incoming and outgoing mail is in adherence with all regulations, policies, procedures and other applicable guidelines and laws. You will examine all mail material for evidence of tampering, damage, compliance with packing and labeling requirements. You will exercise judgement involving intimate knowledge and processing actions of technical and complex mail classifications, subject matter materials, programs, and functions. You will operate various class (C) vehicles, to collect, pick-up, deliver and dispatch all U.S. Mail, Messenger Mail, and Inter-agency Mail. You will load and unload vehicles with mail in USPS containers such as plastic/cardboard trays and tubs, mail sacks, sealed boxes and parcels. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that has equipped me with the working knowledge to perform a full range of mail and filing procedures including receiving, sorting, delivering, and directing the distributing of incoming and outgoing mail. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Determine the correct organizational segment to which mail is addressed and distribute into principal classifications by identification mail code numbers, zip codes, locations, or similar routing instructions; 2) Receive, sort, collect, meter postage, deliver, and direct the distribution of incoming and outgoing mail; 3) Examine all mail material for evidence of tampering, damage, compliance with packing and labeling requirements; 4) Operate various class C vehicles to collect, pick-up, deliver and dispatch all mail and correspondence; 5) Maintain files and logs and verify data by comparing it directly with original sources or instructions.
