Budget Analyst (Plant Vogtle Units 3&4)

Southern Nuclear, headquartered in Birmingham, AL, operates Southern Company's six nuclear reactors at three locations in Georgia and Alabama: two reactors at Plant Vogtle, near Waynesboro, GA; two reactors at Plant Hatch, near Baxley, GA; and two reactors at Plant Farley, near Dothan, AL. In addition, construction of two new reactors is ongoing at our Plant Vogtle location. Summary of Position Duties:
This position will fill the role of budget analyst for unit 3 and unit 4, respectively, serving as a liaison between the Business Operations team and the Operational Readiness team. Specific job duties will include analyzing cost variances, validating assumptions used for cost projections, and developing operational budgets for the Operational Readiness functional groups.
This position is responsible for the following:
Compiling and coordinating budgets and ensuring the budget is prepared and completed in accordance with SNC's goals
Compiling and reporting monthly analysis of actual-to-budget data and end-of-year projections
This position is also responsible for effective communication of budgets, projections, initiatives, and results to management.
This position interacts regularly with management and budget coordinators regarding budget and financial issues, placing emphasis on sound internal controls.
This position is responsible for monthly close-out duties, schedule preparation, SNC budgets, and training of budget coordinators and managers.
Job Experience & Education
Four-year degree in accounting, finance or business is required. CPA, Masters of Accountancy or finance, and/or MBA considered a plus.
Cost analysis and budgeting in CapEx experience is desired
Two years of cost experience is required
Knowledge of utility accounting and finance and knowledge of specific accounting requirements of Federal Electric Regulatory Commission (FERC) considered a plus
