The DB2 Systems Database Administrator will administer databases in a large 24x7 AIX/DB2 environment.
Responsibilities Include:
Install, upgrade and manage DB2 systems in AIX environment
Monitor and Administer Batch jobs, System Performance and System Health.
Collaborating with other IT reams in resolving any production issues and making the systems highly available.
Provide support on outages, and help resolve the incidents and participate in root cause analysis.
Provide On call support - 24x7 for PROD systems (includes on call rotation support with periodic weekend support)
Strong understanding of high availability concepts and practical experience and implementation of key components (DB, application server, fault tolerant systems, cluster server/software, etc.).
Participate in the design of Disaster Recovery, high availability (VCS, HADR, TSAMP) and systems management (latest on patches, DB / system backup, archiving) for all SAP landscapes.
Identify opportunities and develop solutions to automate and improve efficiency of DB2 environment
Must be a US Citizen to obtain a CBP Public Trust clearance.
3 to 10 years of experience and a B.S. degree. Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience
5+ years of strong systems DBA Experience with DB2 in maintenance, performance monitoring/tuning areas
3+ years of experience supporting DB2 in open systems (LINUX)
3+ years of experience with DB2 features, configuration, upgrades, and optimization
3+ years of experience with database utilities, data modeling, database application/SQL tuning, and database health/performance monitoring products
Experience with complex SQL statement analysis for cost and optimization
Hands on experience with the following:
o DB2 tablespace and table configuration and monitoring
o DB2 performance monitoring with db2pd and db2 table functions
o DB2 federation
o DB2 Audit, Security, Authentication from applications
o DB2 HADR - configuration, monitoring, and recovery
o DB2 locking, latching, bufferpool, memory management
o DB2 Stored Procedures, functions, and database triggers
o Incident and problem management, including root cause analysis
