Job Description

The Garden Segment is hiring an Electrical Engineer for our Greenfield, MO facility. This position will initiate, coordinate, and own process improvement initiatives within our Grass Seed and Controls manufacturing environment. This will be accomplished through the design, development, and effective implementation of continuous improvement projects, electrical design expertise to support next-level automation initiatives and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization. This individual will utilize functional problem-solving and lean/sigma tools as well as their knowledge of manufacturing machinery to achieve specific operational improvement, financial objectives and drive manufacturing innovation. This position will provide guidance to all aspects of electrical manufacturing inputs and be the go-to expert for electrical component and supplier selection necessary to support business unit future vision and future competitiveness.MEASURES OF SUCCESSDevelop and maintain strong, positive business relationships with key internal clients to clearly understand their business processes, and the development/articulation of short and long-term business objectives as it relates to electrical design to delivery (DTD)Act as a "Change Agent by helping to identify, execute and track continuous improvement activities and projects of various sizes and impactsCultivate relationships and engage employees of all levels necessary to drive sustainable operational improvementBe familiar with the next evolution of manufacturing/processing equipment (automation) and analyze areas where it might be most beneficialWork with technical suppliers to address and resolve any issues that act as barriers to continuous improvementGoal alignment and prioritization participate in business case proposals and validate the opportunity, scope and importance of a project with an electrical design mindsetInteract with business owners and stakeholders to develop electrical process documentation and execute manufacturing plan as related to annual new product development effortsAssist facility managers with equipment electrical Capex requests being the go-to expert for electrical design, track payment schedules and ensure cost/budget adherenceBuild, mobilize, and lead cross-departmental project teams to meet the project objectives within the given time frame, and within budget; have a strong project management mindsetFacilitate meetings, kaizen events and workshops to solve urgent business needsUse Lean and DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) methodologies to understand current processes, identify impacts to current processes of proposed system enhancements, and work with the various stakeholders to propose and develop process and/or technology modificationsGather, collect, organize, prioritize, conduct statistical analysis, and present data concerning business and/or project opportunitiesEstablish key measures of success for projects and implement tracking plansBe an active and visible resource across the organization and earn a reputation as the resident electrical expert who can lead teams to improve performance and accelerate operational excellenceIDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTESBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering; MBA is a plusMinimum 3 years relevant experienceLean knowledge/ experience to apply lean concepts and principles across an entire value stream; Green Belt certification is a plusExperience working in both manufacturing and business office environmentsExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills a mustMust have strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environmentCommitment to deadlines, accuracy and professionalismAbility to travel in a limited capacityAbility to work in a constant state of alertness and safemannerAt Central Garden and Pet (NASDAQ: CENT and CENTA), we believe home is at the center of our lives, and our employees ar
