Provides service to various hospital departments by performing the necessary transportation for patients to required destinations within the hospital. Assists in lifting, turning, and transferring patient to applicable transport equipment, such as stretchers and wheelchairs. Assists staff with patient transfer from bed to transport equipment.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Transport patient to and from designated area as required.
Assists in lifting, turning, and transferring patient to applicable transport equipment, such as stretchers and wheelchairs. Assists staff with patient transfer from bed to transport equipment.
Care for equipment, which is used by the Patient Transport department. Reports defects promptly and follows through to ensure the equipment is checked and repaired.
Cleans and changes lines on the transport equipment as required.
Communicates any transport delays or concerns; maintains continuous contact with dispatch.
Attends all required Joint Commission in-services and CPR re-certification on a yearly basis. Participates in initial and on-going training on safe lifting techniques.
Ensure compliance with all infection control and hazardous material measures at all times.
Performs all other duties as assigned. Education: H.S. Diploma/GED
Skills: Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.

Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations; and prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to operate machinery. Must be able to frequently move, lift or carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs., 20% of the time.
