Responsibilities
Provides legal advice and counsel to our Human Resources (-HR-) professionals and other business partners throughout the Company regarding labor and employment matters that impact our business. Drafts, reviews, and revises pleadings, correspondence, administrative responses, contracts, policies, procedures, and other documents relating to legal labor and employment issues. Represents the Company in labor and employment related matters pending before courts, arbitrators, and administrative agencies, as necessary.
Researches, analyzes, and provides advice and counsel to HR professionals and other internal business partners regarding applicable labor and employment laws, regulations, and Company policies.
Stays abreast of relevant legal labor and employment developments.
Handles administrative labor and employment-related matters, including conducting appropriate investigations, responding to charges, responding to requests for information, representing the Company during onsite investigations, and representing the Company during settlement negotiations, mediations, and administrative hearings.
Investigates and responds to employment related allegations in attorney demand letters.
Represents the Company in mediations, trials, and arbitrations, as necessary and assigned, including oversight of outside counsel.
Develops and delivers training to associates and leaders regarding labor and employment related issues.
Establishes and maintains relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members, and other colleagues.
Identifies and assesses legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area, and advises accordingly.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required. Must have minimum of five years of labor and employment law experience in a large law firm setting. Must have an active license to practice law in the State of Tennessee or be able to be admitted to the State of Tennessee by reciprocity.

Knowledge and Skills
Possesses extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment. Has working knowledge of a functional discipline. Excellent time management, communication (written and oral), decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills. Comfort using Microsoft Office and Windows Operating System required.
