Summary You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Call Center) in the Navy Household Goods (HHG) Personal Property Shipping Office (PPSO) Section of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF. Responsibilities You will provide entitlement counseling and quality control services along with shipment and storage management services to military and civilian service member's incident to movement of household goods. You will receive, analyze, and provide technical support, information and services to customers as they attempt to move, store, and receive household goods, professional gear, express shipments, and unaccompanied baggage. You will research, compile, and evaluate data to identify patterns, causal factors and failures and determine solutions. You will review various sources of data to determine unusual trends and differences within the multi systems utilized. You will use a variety of communication, negotiating, and interviewing techniques to listen, understand, explain and resolve complex processes and procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying a thorough knowledge of traffic management and transportation regulations, procedures, operations, and automated transportation information systems involving personal property shipping such as household goods, unaccompanied baggage, boats, and/or privately owned vehicles (POV's) to include entitlement counseling, the selection of carriers under established agreements (e.g., carriers identified in standing route orders, under contract, on established lists, or in fare guides), the preparation, review, or verification of movement and billing instructions related to such moves, and quality control services along with shipment and storage management services. Examples may include: 1) Applying a wide range of traffic management and transportation polices, principles, and methodology to execute personal property shipment management including household goods, property entitlement counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management , non-temporary and temporary storage, quality assurance, and procedures for processing loss and damage claims; 2) Demonstrate a functional knowledge of computer systems through the use of both commercial and government transportation information systems for personal property counseling and shipments, calculating shipment costs, reconciling shipment errors and/or assisting with filing loss and damage claims; 3) Communicate both orally and in writing with peers, customers, industry and service agencies/businesses to intervene on transportation-related issues/problems pertaining to shipment management; and 4) Plan, manage, and review personal workload in order prepare clear and comprehensive presentation and/or brief or peers, customers and/or management officials.
