As a dedicated Audit Professional Practices and Training Executive, you will be responsible for the strategy, development, and implementation of core audit processes, including risk

assessment, annual planning, audit engagement types and related standards, and continuous monitoring. Develop and maintain Audit Services policies and procedures as documented in the Audit Operations Manual. Responsible for the strategy, development and implementation of the Audit Services learning strategy and training program.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • Leads the development, maintenance and periodic review of departmental audit standards, methodology and policies that adhere to Global Internal Audit Standards, and regulatory guidance and industry best practices.

  • Ensures procedures that support the departmental audit standards, methodology and policies are developed, executed, and periodically reviewed and maintains a current audit policy and procedures manual.

  • Oversees and directs all aspects of the annual risk assessment and audit plan processes, including the establishment of appropriate timelines and procedures and the generation of high-quality, accurate reporting to Audit Services Leadership and the Board.

  • Develops the strategy and oversee standards and processes for all audit engagement types, including issue validation, targeted reviews, and continuous monitoring, etc.

  • Leads all efforts related to systemic issue analysis and periodic assessments of the enterprise control environment.

  • Leads the strategy, design, development, and implementation of Audit Services learning activities.

  • Partners with internal and external individuals to assess methodology and training needs and develop executable strategies.

  • Anticipates future audit methodology and training requirements to support changing business needs and align with industry best practices.

  • Establishes strategic partnerships with external parties, as applicable, to incorporate industry best practices and trends into audit process and learning strategies.

  • Continuously evaluates and improves the programs and processes for which the roles is responsible to support evolving business needs.

  • Stays abreast of strategic initiatives and new products and services and maintains current knowledge of organizational changes and direction of USAA.

  • Addresses issues escalated by team members, manages disagreements and gains appropriate resolution to complex issues. Escalates concerns to senior leadership as appropriate.

  • Builds and oversees a high performing team of employees and third-party resources for functional area to deliver high quality results including the identification, development and retention of talent with requisite internal audit professional practices capabilities as well as providing leadership, development and mentorship through coaching and support and overseeing performance management, and managerial activities.

  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards and financial services regulations and effectively responds and interacts with regulators.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 10 or more years of internal audit, risk management, compliance, other control partner experience or relevant operations experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment to include 4 years' experience managing and implementing audit standards and policies or training in the financial services industry.

  • 4 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required.

  • Expert knowledge of the Global Internal Audit Standards, regulatory guidance (e.g., Supervisory Release13-1), and internal audit leading practices.

  • Experience developing audit plans and overseeing the execution of the plans.

  • Experience working directly with regulators.

  • Deep knowledge of techniques required to perform audits.

  • Knowledge of banking, insurance, and investment operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What we offer:

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $163,880 - $294,980.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
