As the solutions engineer (SE) you will serve as the technical lead on your assigned accounts, leveraging your abilities to provide technical guidance, leadership, and serve as a customer advocate. You will also collaborate with the client executive (CE), sales specialists, and other members of the sales team to partner and solve our customers' complex business challenges using our expansive portfolio of products and services.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
The SE is a critical part of VMware Field Sales teams and tasked with owning the technical portion of the sales cycle. Beyond that, become a trusted advisor to your accounts while continuously creating relationships that will give you the chance to learn about your customers, their goals, and their challenges.
The SE seeks to build deep, consultative relationships with their customer, effectively becoming a trusted adviser. The SE trusted advisor is ideally positioned to understand the customer's high-level business objectives, and match these to VMware solutions to satisfy the business and technical requirements.
Being a core solutions engineer requires you to be a leader in your account team. You will pull in other teams as needed to assist in the overall sales cycle and lifecycle of the account. You will be responsible for pulling everyone together within your extended sales team to accomplish one common goal as well as to serve the best interest of our customers.
The SE is comfortable presenting VMware's value proposition, technologies, strategy, and product roadmaps to all levels at their customer including executives, technical management, and technical engineers.
Everyone is responsible for pipeline growth. A great SE always seeks to identify new customer opportunities or demands for VMware solutions in their named accounts, as well as participate in demand generating events and activities. SE's track these opportunities in Salesforce.com.
Once an opportunity is identified, the SE plays a critical role in developing the opportunity and moving it towards closure. The primary activities the SE leads are to ensure that the proposed solution has been technically validated and that there are no technical barriers that would prevent the adoption of the solution. The SE works collaboratively with their Account Executive to develop business cases and value justifications to support world-class value propositions to your customer.
SEs constantly seek to expand their technical expertise and knowledge of VMware technologies, industry direction and trends, and competitor's solutions via enablement and internal training offerings
As a group, SE's communicate and collaborate with their peers and colleagues on trends, product feedback, customer success, etc.

The manager for this position has over 10 years' experience in the technology sector. He has vast and diverse knowledge and held positions that range from IT operations, vendor engineering, and leadership. He firmly believes that collaboration and trust are the keys to building a strong team along with forming a good partnership with our customers. He fosters an environment of open communication and creativity in order to "think outside the box".
The team for this role is spread across the CA/NV region and consists of world class talent. The team is made up of professionals who come from a diverse set of backgrounds which provides everyone opportunity to constantly learn from each other.
Where is this role located?
Las Vegas: The role is considered local to Las Vegas, Nevada. Depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager, you will often be remote in your customer engagements. There is an expectation that you will spend time with your customers as needed, whether that is meeting with them in person or virtually.
