General Summary:
The Director of Financial Systems position is a key leader in the ongoing design, configuration, development, implementation, and operation of key enterprise financial systems and supporting applications. Serves as a liaison for and among Dollar General's finance and Information Technology (IT) team and other personnel, including external consultants and vendors.
Supervise daily operations of enterprise financial systems and Financial Systems Administrators/Analysts and support team needs. Learn, present, and explain application capabilities to team and/or a broader group of end users.
Manage decision-making around reporting, data governance, patches and/or upgrades, and process automation within enterprise financial systems and related applications. Collaborate with Finance Division leadership and other impacted stakeholder groups to gain support and approval of recommendations.
Identify and implement financial system process improvements and reporting enhancements, focusing on sustainable automation and efficiency.
Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and architect solutions, striving to continually optimize processes and add value.
Managing projects to completion while collaborating with other teams on communication, change management, training needs, and ensuring projects finish in a timely manner.
Support assigned finance applications according to vendor requirements. Design, conduct, and/or oversee system testing as necessary.
Learn, set up, and/or actively review security access rights to financial data and systems
Prior successful experience managing or using enterprise level financial systems. Experience with Lawson, Concur, or ReconNET is a plus.
Experience and aptitude for understanding complex system integrations including data flows, reporting, and troubleshooting issues/errors.
Strong analytical and data analysis skills sufficient to conduct research, determine relevance of information, interpret meaning, identify positive or negative trends, and develop action plans.
Experience with advanced reporting/query tools such as SQL, Excel PowerQuery, PowerBI, etc.
Advanced Excel skills (index match, various lookup functions, tables versus ranges, Pivot Tables, etc.)
Understanding of key accounting and finance concepts.
Strong problem-solving skills, utilizing technical expertise and good business judgment in support of operational and strategic objectives.
Manage multiple, competing priorities, often within tight deadlines.
Plan, manage and execute projects with quality and precision.
Communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of staff and management, while appropriately tailoring messaging to each audience.
Learn quickly and think critically to understand the unique set of issues for assignment
Work Experience and/or Education:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Finance/Accounting, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration
Seven years of progressive financial systems/reporting experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education
Three years of management experience with direct reports.
