Embedded Firmware/Electrical Design Engineer

Summary:
This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and will support existing and new product development as well as assist with design and development activities to achieve departmental goals. The Embedded Firmware/Electrical Design Engineer will design, test, modify, implement, and evaluate software, support and/or install software applications, create firmware development specifications from customer-driven research, provide input to project proposals, participate in design reviews, and provide project reports and technical documentation. This person will also be required to direct contractors and or less experienced developers as needed.
What you will do:
Conceive, plan, design, develop and coordinate project components including schedules
Create and develop engineering project documentation
Develop prototypes and test plans
Perform validations
Complete engineering analysis and designs using various engineering tools
Participate on cross-functional teams, provide support to team members, and should have embedded firmware experience
Travel occasionally to all Warewash plant locations (Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Owen Sound Canada)
What we are looking for:
Experience in electro-mechanical system design and development
Knowledgeable of electrical components, circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, applications and programming software
At least five years of electrical design and control experience
Minimum qualifications :
BS in CS, CE or EE
Programming proficiency in C/C++ Multi-threaded application experience
Solid understanding of micro-processors, embedded systems
MQX or similar real-time operating system application development experience
Must be a self-starter, able to work well without close supervision
Experience creating schematics, layouts, BOMs and wiring harness documentation for new parts and assemblies
Experience with communication protocols for peripheral devices
Ability to execute projects within specified timelines
Abstract thinking
Logical, deductive reasoning
MS Office application proficiency
Preferred qualifications :
Experience in project management
Experience in planning/designing controls architecture
Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
Experience with Modbus and other communication protocols for peripheral devices
HMI for embedded products including touch screen, small display panel, vacuum fluorescent displays, OLED displays, etc.
Labview and visual basic experience
Real-time clock application experience
Experience with ARM, Coldfire, and H08 processors
IOT development
Hands-on mechanical skills
Experience using a variety of sensors
Demonstrated digital and analog circuit design, fabrication, and debugging experience
Wiring harness design experience
