Job Description

Alpine is seeking a Sr. Staff Accountant in our Glenview, IL location to provide accurate and timely financial information for internal and corporate reporting. The Sr. Staff Accountant will be responsible for general accounting and month-end close processes including cash, inventory, sales, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, and ad-hoc analysis as required. This role will effectively communicate and coordinate the exchange of financial information to manufacturing operations, with in-depth knowledge to guide effective business decisions that deliver profitable growth.

  • Assist in successfully performing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and reporting requirements

  • Collect and analyze data to determine the cost of business activities, such as raw material costs, labor, freight, packaging and other variable costs.

  • Work with operations, sales and marketing teams to proactively improve KPIs, including slow moving and obsolete inventory and months on hand.

  • Complete key Cost Accounting duties such as slow and obsolete inventory analysis and the standard cost update. Drive resolution and corrective action with all functional groups and production plants

  • Provide financial support to the operations team, including cost trends, cost improvement opportunities, and profitability analysis of products, suppliers, programs and special projects.

  • Partner with operations in managing the capital expenditure plan and overall responsibility for Fixed Asset Accounting.

  • Understand and apply ITW financial policies consistently and effectively. Ensure that accurate financial records and strong internal controls are in place and being followed.

  • Assist in preparation of annual operation plan, long range strategic plans, monthly outlooks, quarterly reviews and other special analysis.

  • Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others in your work environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent advanced degree

  • Minimum of 2-5 years Accounting experience

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and Word

  • Cost Accounting and Fixed Asset experience preferred

  • Strong business communication and analytical skills

  • Manufacturing experience preferred

  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus

Additional Skills :

  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate financial & accounting concepts in a business context that is understandable to non-accounting/finance business partners

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and extremely self-motivated with the ability to drive for results within required timelines
