The Electrical Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities include planning and executing the electrical design and implementation tasks related to the carrier manufacturing process across Hi-Cone's four manufacturing plants. The project assignments will vary from minor machine enhancements to complete process improvement initiatives. The candidate will gain proficiency in electrical requirements within a manufacturing plant, researching, designing, and modifying manufacturing equipment, and conferring with equipment vendors. The position will interface with other engineers, plant managers, plant maintenance staff, and manufacturing operators.
In addition to selecting components, creating schematics, troubleshooting and creating Bills of Materials, the Electrical Engineer will develop new control systems in coordination with mechanical functional requirements as well as specific customer needs. This individual will design electrical upgrades for existing installed equipment base and support installation and debug of new machine placements. The position will interface with other engineers, sales, marketing, systems service, customers, and machine builders. The candidate must be able to handle multiple assignments, priorities, and schedules.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage projects from concept, design, and financial justification through implementation within project schedule and budget.
Create electrical schematics and diagrams based on machinery control requirements.
Organize bills of materials using components selected based on cost and lead time considerations.
Develop PLC and HMI control system programs for a diverse installed machine base.
Develop electrical standards and technical documentation including functional and design specifications
Develop schedules and budgets for projects
Collaborate with mechanical design groups, on-site maintenance team, and external vendors to ensure successful implementation assigned projects.
Develop new panel layouts, schematics, BOMs, and programs to address obsolete components in aging machinery
Integrate servo control platforms as a means to increase machinery flexibility and improve overall performance.
Provide solutions to integration challenges associated with plant equipment.
Provide support for electrical and PLC control issues (either on-site, by phone or on-line)
Provide unscheduled emergency troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment in the field.
Maintain up to date and current back-up documentation of all electronic machine and controller programs and effectively communicate any changes to appropriate personnel.
Maintain current and up to date documents of adjustable parameters such as program recipes.
Practices LOTO and follows safe electrical work practices - serves as a leader in safe electrical working practices, teaching others to follow.
Modify existing equipment to improve efficiency, speed, and quality across the plants.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
10+ years of demonstrated knowledge in control systems design for machinery
Excellent document management skills
Understanding of global safety standards and electrical codes of practice, include UL, CSA, & CE
Proven experience with advanced servo systems
Proven history of working independently and managing multiple assignments
Effective communicator capable of independent as well as team collaboration
Creative designer committed to timely completion of assignments
Ability to work in a fast paced team environment is essential, with a high degree of flexibility and tolerance of change
Extensive hands-on experience with automated production equipment including building and testing electrical panels and prototype assemblies for R&D purposes
Previous experience with IIOT implementation is a plus
Proficient with MS Office Products
Up to 30% travel, including some international travel
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
