We are currently looking for a Marine Dealer Support Manager. The incumbent may work in various locations. As a Marine Dealer Support Manager, you are responsible for delivering marine sales and service growth for U.S. Government funded programs via global marine dealer engagement and support.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leverage the resources within Caterpillar and dealer organizations to lead business development that includes services and product sales, customer support, product development resources, as well as marketing and research activities.

  • Establish high-level relationships with business decision makers and identify business needs and problems.

  • Work with senior management to develop and implement market strategies for marine industry U.S. governmental customers, as well as securing commitment of Caterpillar and dealer resources to assure continued customer satisfaction.

  • Collect and assess market requirements, market trends, and customer data via dealer engagement to develop and implement creative short and long-term plans required to support the integrated sales and service strategy of Caterpillar Defense and Caterpillar Marine.

  • Cultivate and maintain synergistic relationships with marine dealers engaged in U.S. Government funded projects both domestically and internationally (via Foreign Military Sales).

  • Serve as a liaison between the global marine dealer network and Caterpillar Defense with an understanding of a two-way relationship whereby Defense supports dealer sales/services growth and dealers support Defense sales/services growth depending on the opportunity.

  • Leverage web-based government solicitations to identify dealer sales and service opportunities and collaborate with the Defense Marine Sales and Defense Lifecycle teams to identify sales/service opportunities and leverage pursuits via the dealer network.

  • Schedule and attend routine meetings with marine dealers to maintain sales funnel and opportunity/order tracking in Salesforce to support monthly product demand forecasts, financial forecasts, annual business plan tracking, and long-term forecasts.

  • Collaborate with the commercial marine territory sales managers and the Caterpillar Marine Naval Design & Application team to coordinate appropriate support for dealer sales and service opportunities.

  • Work closely with the Caterpillar Defense Sales Support staff and Caterpillar Marine Naval Design & Application team to respond to dealer/customer requests and ensure dealer/customer satisfaction.

  • Assist dealers with discount justification, logistical support for order expediting, rated order support, and sales/service opportunity pursuits.

  • Attend customer meetings in support of dealer pursuits as necessary.

  • Collect and share dealer input to support Defense team stakeholder opportunity reviews.

  • Provide voice of dealer input to shape future product development by product groups or Caterpillar Defense.

  • Attend trade shows in support of dealer sales and services growth.

  • Engage Caterpillar Defense marketing team to coordinate marketing to promote dealer sales and service growth in support of Caterpillar Defense revenue growth targets.

  • Measure success based on achievement of agreed business targets for dealer sales and services revenue growth.

  • Educate customers on Caterpillar, the Caterpillar Dealer network, and Caterpillar Marine product offerings.

  • Develop a broad knowledge of Caterpillar Marine Power Systems products and their application and be able to respond to requests, answer questions, and solve problems in day-to-day dealer/customer interactions.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of competitor products.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of company policies, capabilities, and departmental structure and follow prescribed procedures.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and written.

  • Support efforts to establish non-disclosure agreements with dealers/customers and maintain compliance with these agreements.

  • Maintain strict adherence to Caterpillar Defense US Government Contract compliance and SOX business requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of marine power systems industry experience or maritime related governmental acquisition experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be able to deal with sensitive issues and/or persuade others on new methods of equipment application, new technology and distribution methods.

Top Candidates will have:

  • Military experience is beneficial.

  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and some financial analysis experience

  • Familiarity with Caterpillar dealer business, naval vessel requirements, marine engineering or naval architecture, and shipbuilding experience

  • Existing relationships with key dealers and/or key marine defense industry personnel provide additional value for this role and are expected to be maintained and further developed.

  • Results-oriented and a self-starter.

  • Has a broad business background and demonstrated resourcefulness.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Therefore, to satisfy the requirements for this position, the successful applicant must be a U.S. citizen; not hold dual citizenship with another county; and present evidence of their citizenship.
