The Navy Electrical Systems Engineer will be on a dynamic team that designs and evaluates ship and test site electrical systems, with an emphasis on electric propulsion and Integrated Power Systems. This position assists senior members of our team that works closely with the Customer and other Government interdisciplinary teams to deliver quality electrical power systems.
The Electrical Engineer will be expected to hit the ground running as new member of a small but growing office in support of new classes of Navy, Coast Guard, and Military Sealift Command, and foreign navy vessels.
In this position you will:
Design, develop, and test all aspects of electrical components, equipment, and machinery.
May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments.
Apply principles and techniques of electrical engineering and concepts, practices, and procedures within the power system and power electronics fields to accomplish design goals.
Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Report to a supervisor or manager who will provide guidance and task direction.
Bring your education background, relevant internship training, and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
0-2 years of experience in a related field.
Coursework in power systems engineering and/or power electronics.
Knowledge of software-based engineering processes.
Familiarity with SKM Power Tools or other software used to perform load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, breaker coordination, arc flash hazard, and other electrical power system analyses.
Familiarity with Matlab Simulink or other modeling and simulation software and the ability to develop representative time domain models of power converters, motors, generators, etc. needed to perform harmonic analyses and dynamic simulations.
Knowledge of Windows 10 and Microsoft Office.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance upon employment.
