The safety manager will be responsible for driving a safety culture transformation within North American Construction Segment. They will be responsible for establishing a comprehensive & holistic safety approach. A critical component for success will be the ability to influence and drive change across all levels of the organization. This position is responsible for establishing, communicating, and implementing a safety strategy that truly places employee safety as the top priority across the business.
Core Responsibilities:
Partner with cross divisional team to understand specific divisional safety concerns and develop safety action plans collaboratively to encourage and sustain employee engagement.
Implement robust safety processes and ultimately implement initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents across multiple North American sites
Plan, develop & administer educational/ training materials & programs; as appropriate
Lead facility audits to ensure OSHA compliance; identify safety hazards, including the implementation of corrective actions
Partner with local leadership in -80- manufacturing facilities to manage & coordinate health and safety improvements in accordance with corporate policies & procedures
Develop safety action plans collaboratively to encourage and sustain employee engagement, more robust safety processes and ultimately improved safety results. Establish and communicate clear '80' actions and prioritization in agreement with Plant Managers and Divisional teams.
Plan, develop and administer educational/training materials and programs as appropriate.
Collects & analyze data to identify problem areas; develop corrective actions and drive continuous improvements in EHS processes
Develop, review, and ensure thoroughness of JSA's and assessment processes to include new hire and contractor safety orientation across all facilities
Drive a culture of accountability deeper within the organizations
Drive and ensure the sharing of safety best practices between North America construction plants.
In partnership with local leadership when needed, aid in the accident investigations process including corrective actions

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in industrial/mechanical engineering, safety, or related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience driving health, safety &environmental initiatives
Broad knowledge of regulatory guidelines - OSHA/ Cal- OSHA
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
Strong root cause analysis skills involving 5 Why's, fishbone diagrams, etc.
Key technical experience in ergonomics, machine guarding, control of hazardous energy, in addition to standard EHS competency
Ability to travel ~50%
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong knowledge of virtual meeting and remote/shared document storage.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
Strong business acumen and excellent project management skills
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position, within typical manufacturing working conditions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to fumes, heat and dust, climate variances and moving mechanical equipment typically found in a manufacturing environment. This manufacturing plant is not air conditioned. The noise level in the work environment is high when exposed to the manufacturing areas. Certain personal protective equipment is required when in the manufacturing areas. Having to work or come in off-shift may be required.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to walk, stand, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to sit. The employee must often lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
