This position is responsible for assisting in routine Facilities activities and coordinating special projects (planning, tracking progress, coordinating vendors, etc.). The Facilities Maintenance position will also coordinate and perform preventive maintenance on Cengage-owned equipment, appliances, as well as all building related equipment including resolving routine electrical and mechanical work orders.

  • Maintain Facility and surrounding grounds to assure a pleasant, clean and safe work environment, this includes snow removal during inclement weather.

  • Maintain an accurate record and inventory of all Facility related supplies, including coffee service supplies.

  • Maintain storage and distribution of all Facility related supplies to appropriate locations.

  • Perform preventative maintenance of Facility related equipment and initiate repairs when needed.

  • Coordinate facility vehicles maintenance schedule.

  • Maintaining of the Facility Building and Grounds and performing and/or scheduling related repairs.

  • Maintaining/repair of all Company owned vehicles at this site.

  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on Facility building and grounds related equipment.

  • Maintains the Facility and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows OSHA safety regulations.

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and materials handling equipment in performing Facility maintenance duties.

  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions

  • Capable of wiring and the reconfiguration of cubicle work stations.

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report this information to Facility Manager.

  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance, carpentry and electrical work.

  • Setup/tear down for department meetings, trainings, employee incentive events, facility employee meetings and all such associated company functions.

  • Perform other duties that are assigned.

  • Align with all internal safety regulations as well as OSHA regulations and maintain a clean and orderly Facility and surrounding grounds.

Required:

  • High school diploma required; some college a plus.

  • Advanced understanding of and aptitude for mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools.

  • To perform this job successfully, the individual must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as other business-related software.

  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to master a fire control system.

  • Ability to work independently and stay focused and on task.

  • Valid driver's license and pass a DMV background check.

  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks based on the urgency of the tasks.

  • Must be flexible and sometimes on call during emergency situations.

  • Must be willing to work unscheduled overtime during emergencies as well as occasional weekends as requested.

  • Must be willing to engage in ongoing training as this position requires continuous learning and skills upgrading.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity AutoCad is preferred.
