This opportunity entails being responsible for troubleshooting and resolving advanced database issues that are assigned to the team. This position is also responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, maintenance, backups, deployments, and documentation of various database solutions. Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation. Serves as escalation point for and Level I and II network engineers.
What You'll Do:
Provides tier 2 support and maintenance of databases to meet daily operational needs. May act as escalation point if needed.
Troubleshoots performance, stability and availability issues in a high volume and highly transactional database environment.
Performs routine and regular database maintenance operations. Builds, documents, and deploys database objects based on best practices and industry standards.
Installs, upgrades, and configures database software and replications, and implements and maintains complex database security.
Performs database tuning, performance monitoring, capacity management and automation tasks. Assists in the application of database updates and stand-alone hotfixes to environments, as well as evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement to processes for database management.
Conducts database maintenance, maintains database backups, while also triaging and troubleshooting database alerts and issues, identifying root cause, and launching corrective actions.
Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for supported database technologies.
May work with development teams to perform regular DB code reviews for quality and performance improvements and provide technical guidance
May work with product support and services team to support their database needs on a day-to-day basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or
In lieu of education, 8 years of relevant experience
What We Prefer:
5 years database operations experience
Enthusiasm for maintaining, optimizing, and maximizing SQL Server
Product/Application Support Experience
