Quality Control Inspector/Analyst - Plant Hatch

Job Summary

This position is a certified Level II inspector in any discipline or method. The individual should maintain this certification and continue obtaining training and experience necessary to obtain other level II certifications. The position is in the Engineering Support Department and will report to the Plant Support Manager at Plant Hatch near Baxley, Georgia.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

  • Maintain all areas of knowledge and experience associated with procedures, instructions, and work orders associated with inspections, examinations and receipt inspection as required by the Level II.

  • Initiate/Implement schedules, perform inspection planning and perform completion reviews associated with inspections, examinations, and material receipt.

  • Perform inspections, examinations and material receipt of work activities associated with plant maintenance, modifications, or construction projects in accordance with approved procedures and instructions.

  • Perform testing or verification of materials associated with permanent plant equipment.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of various inspection and examination programs and procedures.

  • Responsible for assisting the certifying authority level III in the training and certification of lower-level personnel.

  • Evaluate indeterminate or unacceptable inspection or examination results for defect characterization and possible corrective measures.

  • Provide technical direction and oversight for other personnel during normal and outage work activities.

  • The candidate is expected to take a leadership role in training less experienced personnel and coordinating inspection contractor personnel during outages.

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Must have had a Level II or III certification per ANSI N.45.2.6 or ASNT CP-189 within the last eight years.

  • Associate or higher degree in relevant field preferred.

  • Technical training in the area of inspection resulting in ANSI Level II or III certification in one or more of the following fields is preferred: Electrical, Mechanical, I&C, Civil, Coatings.

  • Technical training in the area of nondestructive testing resulting in Level II or Level III certification in the following fields is preferred: Visual Section XI, Visual Welding, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant inspection.

Background/Experience Requirements

  • Must meet the experience requirements as stiplulated by either ANSI N45.2, ASNT CP-189 and/or ASME Section XI. Experience credit is allowed for personnel with related degrees in a method of discipline. Other areas of qualification such as successful completion of discipline or method specific training may be considered equivalent to the initial training requirements as approved by the certifying authority level III.

  • Must possess the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and specifications. Must be able to verify the adequacy of processes and procedures to those same codes, standards and specifications. Must have a general knowledge of QC and NDE inspection and examination techniques.

  • Must be able to successfully pass and maintain site qualifications necessary to support the performance of inspections and examinations.

  • The position requires basic computer skills and the ability to comprehend new software programs associated with inspection and examination activities.

  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding to perform duties of this job.

  • Industrial site experience is preferred.

  • Nuclear power plant experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership is desired.

  • Must be willing and able to take ERO call.
