The Opportunity

We have an exciting role open within Caterpillar as the Senior Manager Pricing. This position is responsible for the Resource Industries segment Pricing process, execution and strategy. In this role, you will be a strategic partner to the business General Managers and VPs within Resource Industries, providing business insights for the Commercial organizations and Product Group.

What You Will Do:

  • Manages a pricing team which provides professional guidance and expertise to key business partners. Executes pricing and/or sales variance processes and improvements as well as personnel management.

  • Responsibilities

  • Managing and supervising pricing analysts and consultants to support price activities including price generation, process improvements and pricing operations and strategy.

  • Analyzing and forecasting the profit impact and or sales variance of proposed pricing actions while providing consultation to key business partners.

  • Involved in activities to manage total pricing procedures and compliance while ensuring timely response to market business partners and market conditions.

  • Overseeing the competitive pricing analysis and strategies.

What You Have:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and/or 10 years equivalent experience

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment

  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs

  • Leadership: Strong people leadership and organizational capability building with excellent communication and executive presence

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to take an Enterprise point of view and lead with our Values in Action

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economy, Finance, or Business

  • +10 years of progressively responsible job-related experience

  • Strong ability to collaborate, influence and partner with the business and peers

  • Strong background in pricing, commercial finance and deal analysis

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • MBA, Certified Accountant, or Master's degree in a business-related field.

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills and rigorous attention to detail required to oversee analysis & the development of business insights

  • Strong people leadership and organizational capability building

  • Ability to maintain an enterprise point of view and lead with Caterpillar values (Integrity, Commitment, Teamwork, Excellence and Sustainability)

  • Strong communication skills and executive presence

  • Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence required to deal with sensitive and critical issues

  • The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL or Tucson, AZ
