We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to provide leadership and guidance in our Troy, Ohio location. The person hired for this position will carry out HR responsibilities under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager and must exercise independent judgment and decision-making while maintain confidentiality. Major responsibilities for this position include recruiting, new hire orientation and onboarding while facilitating the division diversity and inclusion agenda.
Essential Functions
Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the business; prepares and maintains the handbook on policies and procedures. Ensures HR policies are legally compliant.
Educates and supports employees in the use of the self-service applications available to them.
Assist with ensuring and meeting compliance programs by maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions.
Assist with employee safety, wellness, community activities and health screening programs
Complete monthly HR reporting and metrics as assigned
Coordinates with hiring managers to assist in the recruiting process, interview scheduling, hiring process, applicant tracking and record keeping requirements along with screening applicants.
Organizes and conducts new employee orientation; creates a positive first experience of the company and serves as a role model for ITW values.
Inputs and maintains employee data in the HRIS system such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for reporting. Prepares regular or special reports using HRIS.
Prepares employee communication documents including new hire, disability, benefit, separation notices and related documentation. Assists in the dissemination and collection of data and forms.
Works with ITW corporate human resources or third-party providers, as necessary, in the management of employee life cycle processes and transactions.
Creates, coordinates, and conducts management/employee training in topics including interview skills, performance management, safety, harassment, ITW Principles of Conduct, and ITW business policy guidelines. Coordinates and manages e-learning administration along with management directory.
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Human Resource Management
3 years of HR generalist experience
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization
Independent and organized work style that includes managing time and prioritizing workload
Knowledge of HR laws, i.e., FMLA, HR Compliance
Technical skills/aptitude-proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Strong written/verbal communication skills and demonstrates good listening skills
HRIS experience or the ability to learn and become proficient with Workday
Ability to make independent decisions and regularly suggest ways to improve services and processes.
