As a dedicated Risk Analyst Senior - Bank, you will join the Bank Operational Risk Management (BORM) Program Oversite and Governance Team (PrOG), leading risk management oversight for one or more activities in the BORM framework which includes key risk identification, measurement, monitoring, control, and reporting. You will drives the understanding and management of risk through appropriate practices and processes and take ownership of assessing and overseeing business exposures including key and emerging risks. Additional responsibilities include the following:

Leading activities that monitor the risk and control environment and provide effective challenge to internal and external partners to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels. Raising and reporting risks to the appropriate governance bodies.

Implementing complex initiatives and cross functional teams within BORM that could also include partnering with the Bank Chief Risk Office, multiple bank business and program functions across the Enterprise that drive successful problem resolution.

Demonstrating broad operational risk knowledge and expert knowledge of core bank business discipline(s), products, and processes.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • Partners with key collaborators in the bank to identify, assess, aggregate and document risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third-party operations using advanced knowledge.

  • Communicates results of risk assessments to, business process owners and various levels of leadership in the bank.

  • Implements new bank risk policies, practices, appetites, and solutions to ensure comprehensive understanding and management of bank risks according to industry standard process.

  • Enhances and contributes to bank tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks based on established strategy.

  • Applies advanced knowledge to use or produce analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand bank business objectives and influence solution strategies.

  • Serves as a key contributor in cross-functional teams in the bank to identify, assess, aggregate, and mitigate current and emerging bank risk events.

What What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field and 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 6 years of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting, or other related operational area.

  • Or advanced degree/designation in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or other subject area relevant to risk management and 4 years of work experience in a subject area relevant to risk management.

  • Risk management experience in a complex institution and/or highly matrixed environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution management and ability to effectively challenge at all levels of management and influence business outcomes.

  • Ability to effectively work with both internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques and decision-making abilities, to include proven ability to effectively make data-driven decisions.

  • Proactively identifies potential concerns and follows-up to resolve issues.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of federal regulation 12 CFR Part 30, including Appendices A and D and with federal supervisory guidance, to include:

  • OCC Documents: Large Bank Supervision Handbook; OCC Safety and Soundness Handbooks - Internal Controls, Corporate & Risk Governance, Retail Lending; and key OCC bulletins - Model Risk Governance, Model Risk Management, New Products and Services Risk Management, Third Party Risk Management, Technology Risk Management, Stress Testing, and Operational Risk

  • Federal Reserve Documents: Consolidated Supervision Framework for Large Financial Institutions; Federal Reserve Board Bank Holding Company Supervision Manual

  • FFIEC Manuals and Handbooks to include: Banking, General understanding of federal laws, rules, and regulations, to include: CRA; ECOA; FCRA; MLA; SCRA; Regulation DD; Regulation E; Regulation Z; BSA/AML; and UDAP/UDAAP

*Laws and Regulations for illustrative purposes. Roles would need an understanding of all federal and state laws and regulatory guidance applicable to the organization and responsibilities of the role.

What sets you apart:

  • Demonstrated breadth of experience across key operational framework activities, including, but not limited to, issue management, internal and external operational loss events, new activity risk assessments, risk appetite metrics, key risk indicators, coverage plan requirements, and quality monitoring.

  • Process and / or project leadership experience with a proven track record of achieving landmarks and process / project implementation by target dates.

  • Independent problem solver, with the ability to effectively challenge and collaborate with the business, peers, leadership, and Independent Risk Management partners via strong communication skills - including business writing to communicate assessments at an executive level.

  • Ability to drive programmatic change within teams, the business, and program owners.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to perform data analytics within Excel, and create PowerPoint decks that tell the story at an executive level.

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner [optional]

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $99,160 - $189,530 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
