KBR's MilSpace has been a key contributor and initiator in the DevSecOps adoption in the DoD. KBR was a primary driver of the Space Commercial Augmented Platform (SpaceCAMP) and the spin-off organization Platform One (P1). P1 has revolutionized DevSecOps and Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings across the Air Force. KBR's Team Beskar (DevSecOps) team has been rapidly growing outside the Space CAMP and P1 programs support the DoD, to include our Kihei, HI Operations Group. This group supports several cutting-edge R&D and operational efforts dependent on our DevSecOps infrastructure and processes. Everything we do in DevSecOps allows us to deliver quality, secure, and mission critical software services and technical solutions across a broad range of military space mission areas.
Job Description
Why This Role is Exciting:
The Sr. DevSecOps Engineering Manager provides technical leadership to a skilled and motivated team of cloud engineers, site reliability engineers, system administrators and security professionals, tasked with developing and implementing both cloud and on-premise infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to enable our Military Space programs. Using modern and cloud-centric technologies and techniques, this team is responsible for maintaining accredited infrastructure and cyber security, cloud engineering and Microservice applications (Kubernetes). This leadership role is a unique opportunity to make a difference in our Nation's Space capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Understanding customer needs and expectations for our DevSecOps infrastructure and pipeline.
Implementing solutions to meet customer/program requirements based on the above understanding. This includes but is not limited to:
Deploy and maintain critical DevSecOps services supporting both on-prem and cloud-native architectures.
Develop and sustain Continuous Integration and Deployment (CD/CD) software pipelines to include all DevSecOps pipeline stages.
Implement industry best practices for system hardening and configuration management.
Use automation best practices, such as Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and Git Operations (GitOps), for repeatability and fast provisioning of environments.
Deploy, upgrade, and maintain Kubernetes platforms.
Provide onboarding and technical pipeline support of software development teams.
Support backup and disaster recovery planning
Collaborating with technology leaders across company, with customers and advisors to guide the design and creation of products and infrastructure while collaborating on critical technology decisions.
Communicating challenges internally and externally to establish realistic milestones and objectives for your team.
Mentoring and guiding your team throughout the process.
A Successful Candidate embodies the following (see details in minimum quals below):
Technical Leadership. Willingness to get hands-on keyboard, in the code with the team to provide ground-level direction and feedback. Hands-on experience engineering across Information Security Domains is preferred.
Infrastructure Security. Hands on experience engineering in Cloud Services (AWS, Azure), Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible or Puppet.
Software Development. Hands-on experience with scripting languages like bash, Golang, or Python, Linux operating systems, Microservices software architectures and software containers (Docker)
People Leadership. Interest or aptitude in mentoring and skills development
Minimum Qualifications:
4+ years of relevant experience with DevSecOps tools including Gitlab, Nexus and SonarQube (or similar)
2+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including VPC, EC2, IAM and S3
2+ years of experience with deploying and testing in Kubernetes (Helm, Kustomize, Flux)
2+ years of experience with at least 1 scripting language such as bash, Golang, or Python.
2+ years of experience with Microservice software architectures and software containers (Docker).
Experience working with Linux operating systems.
Experience working with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Puppet.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent STEM field (experience cannot be substituted for degree)
5+ years of experience managing/leading personnel/teams
Experience managing or leading teams remotely
US Citizenship and eligibility for up to a Top-Secret SCI (TS/SCI) Clearance
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Agile methodologies to include Scrum, XP or Kanban.
Experience working in a pair programming environment.
Experience with Platform One's Big Bang DevSecOps Platform.
Experience with deploying CI/CD technologies into Kubernetes-based platforms.
Experience with security scanning tools such as SonarQube, OWASP-DC, Anchore, Claire, OpenSCAP, PrismaCloud, Fortify, or Checkmarx.
Formal Cloud or Kubernetes Certifications.
DoD 8570 Certifications to include IAT Level II or Security+
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Salary range: 185 - 235K
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
