What We're Looking For

The candidate will be working within the HNTB's Digital Innovations Solutions Group on the Community and Engagement Solutions Team. Comprised of geospatial system developers, planners and engagement experts, this team works with the most innovative geospatial applications in the transportation industry. The Community and Engagement Solutions Team implements and manages enterprise GIS solutions, applications, and analytic dashboards. This team works hand-in-hand with other HNTB digital solutions team members and experts to support innovative engagement solutions with a focus on equitable community outreach, urban mobility and transportation planning.

This is a junior level position that will be working alongside mid-level staff and team leaders with a variety of specialties and backgrounds - including geospatial systems development, planning, communications, and equity analysis.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Assists team members in identifying and organizing project needs and expectations

  • Provides end user support for project teams and their use of community and engagement digital solutions

  • Coordinates with team members and HNTB developers to identify platform enhancements, as well as troubleshoot and resolve platform issues

  • Assists in configuring or customizing geospatial applications using geospatial knowledge, project requirements and an understanding of client needs

  • Drafts knowledge base articles for engagement platform features and functions to inform and support end users

  • Drafts, prioritizes and tracks support tickets using Jira, utilized by the HNTB developer team

  • Attends and assists team members in meetings with the purpose of supporting end users, identifying enhancements, and communicating status of ongoing requests related to engagement tools

  • Supports the team in the development and client adoption of digital solution platforms, dashboards, and websites using a suite of ArcGIS tools

  • Supports team members in the analysis of equity and community mobility data

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Able to demonstrate a history of working as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Ability to listen to the needs and requests of clients and internal project teams to develop clear and concise directions for developers and support team members

  • A willingness to learn new skills, tools, and platformsUnderstanding of or exposure to database structures is a plusExperience in the application of ArcGIS Online or Portal and ArcGIS Pro is a plus

  • GIS analysis skills; especially in the realm of transportation is a plusFamiliarity with scripting languages such Python and SQL is a plus

  • Previous work experience in planning through an internship or prior employment

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Researches and collects raw data, organizes, analyzes and provides review of the data for use in projects and for further analysis.

  • Performs project analysis using technical guidance and software.

  • Assists project team members with various support tasks such as development of maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reporting.

  • Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning. Assists in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects

  • Performs tasks related to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.

  • Assists in stakeholder and public participation process.

  • Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field

Pay Range for New York, NY: $66,572.34 - $99,858.51

  • Actual Compensation will be dependent upon the individual's qualifications, skills and experience as well as physical work location within the state.
