GENERAL SUMMARY
A multi-skilled individual that works in an ambulatory services/outpatient care setting to support the non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. Performs administrative duties (scheduling, registration, filing, referrals, billing and bookkeeping) and maintains a clean organized work environment. Functions under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD, NP, RN, LPN) during performance of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows established policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Ensures quality and safe delivery of healthcare services within the scope of practice following organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Screens and collects data to coordinate and support medical and nursing services for the provision of safe, accurate and timely patient care.
Demonstrates safe and effective delivery of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed health care provider.
Coordinates and maintains efficient office flow for visit process, data collection, documents, documentation and visit process.
Accurately performs and supports front office functions.
Performs and is accountable for specialized projects, tasks or office functions as negotiated with the management team.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Current certification as a nursing assistant or emergency medical technician.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current CPR certification required.
One to three years experience working in a healthcare related field, or one to three years experience working in a clinical setting of a medical practice or hospital setting.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
Basic knowledge of computers and office equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
