Working with a team of security engineers, you will be positioned at the forefront of multiple company critical programs to help shape the future of the company. We are seeking candidates with extensive experience in challenging environments and advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure supporting SaaS services. You will have extensive knowledge working in a large-scale enterprise environment in an array of roles including cloud application support, tool and infrastructure architecture and implementation, and software development/infrastructure management/and automation.

What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

We need someone who can hit the ground running in a high-octane environment. They will be expected to provide leadership support for multiple long-term projects and show understanding of the compliance efforts that impact the team. Additionally, developing and advancing the security tool stack from an automation and operational management perspective through infrastructure as code is paramount.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Focus on understanding the key security tools and their implementation as well as the service teams involved to understand the compliance effort and possible immediate needs

  • Integrate with the development process for the security tool stack including the key pieces of infrastructure as code

  • Working with other members of the engineering team as well as key stakeholders on other teams to establish a cadence for addressing ongoing implementations

  • Develop key pieces of code for the automation and management of our tool stack in restricted environments

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • You would be testing, developing, and programmatically configuring security tools for automatic deployment in distributed environments

  • You would be supporting VMware Federal Programs with security solutions to meet compliance objectives

  • You would play a key role in enhancing the security engineering portfolio from a development and architectural stance

  • As an SME, you would actively assist in managing security tool infrastructure in AWS environments

  • As an engineer, you will provide support to the team and assist in oversight of large-scale projects

  • You shall assist in evaluating security solutions as well as play a pivotal role in developing novel security solutions

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive understanding of Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture (Terraform, CloudFormation)

  • Comfort with devops and automation mindset and the tools required (Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Lambda)

  • Scripting, Programming, Coding knowledge (Python, Bash, Powershell)

  • Linux and Windows system administration (Windows 2016, Centos, Amazon Linux, RHEL)

  • Ability to build working relationships with critical stakeholders

  • Ability to constructively challenge status quo while adhering to corporate ethics and leadership principles

  • Ability to execute with passion. Lead and follow with Integrity, in a collaborative manner

Desired skills/experience/certification:

  • Certifications like CISSP, Security+, CEH, CISM

  • Experience in regulated environments regarding change management, security controls, compliance efforts (FedRAMP, PCI, FINRA, SOC2)

The Hiring Manager for this role is Jason Alcock, Director, Federal/Cloud Security Engineering. He has experience working with teams across VMware on developing and implementing security solutions. He has been with VMware for 4 years now.

The team consists of security engineers with all manner of background based in Atlanta, but with team members across the country. The team works regular hours with monthly rotations for patching or after-hours visibility.
