Description :
This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities pertaining to the security of property and personnel at Barry Steam Plant in accordance with Company-wide security policies and guidelines. This includes the direct supervision of Security Officers who provide 24/7 security services at Plant Barry. The supervisor is responsible for all phases of performance management, in addition to scheduling and coordinating the day-to-day activities of security personnel. This position also supervises and/or conducts preliminary investigations of security violations including the necessary documentation and reports. Additionally, this position is responsible for the development, writing, implementation and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and post orders. Relocation may be available.
Job Requirements :
Minimum of 5 years experience within an Operating Company Security team preferred
Proven/demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a security related field
Prior experience scheduling personnel for 24/7 coverage
Knowledge of state and federal laws and their application to private security
Ability to use and maintain firearms and pass annual firearms qualifications
Ability to work well with others, both within and outside the Company
Ability to complete Emergency Response Training in First Responder field
Demonstrated experience in security related training preferred
Possess strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills
Experience managing a department budget preferred
Working knowledge of electronic security and surveillance equipment
Experience at multiple facilities within any of the Operating Companies preferred
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, etc.)
Must live within 75 miles of the Barry Steam Plant
Job Responsibilities :
Provide overall safe direction to the plant security forces to ensure that all security posts are adequately manned and equipped in order to prevent unauthorized personnelequipment from gaining access to the plant site
Enforcement of Plant Access Control Guidelines and Plant Security Guidelines
Ensure the plant remains in compliance with Alabama Power Company corporate policies and procedures
Enforce existing plant policies and guidelines
Determines work priorities and work schedules for security team to ensure that the plant is appropriately staffed with security personnel
Performs periodic checks of unassigned perimeter properties in order to maintain safety of areas such as gates, fences, contractor areas, etc.
Assists in maintaining liaison with law enforcement and firefighting agencies in order to provide continuity of operations
Conducts vehicle searches and preliminary inspections as appropriate to protect plant employees and property
Strong ability to communicate with multiple plant departments and corporate security personnel
Responsible for validation of contract security time entries
Documenting and maintaining documentation of key performance indicators
