Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Product Support Engineer working within Electrification and Advanced Power systems division (E&APSD) reporting into the Service and Commercial Development Team. In this role, you will be responsible for product support execution for new product development, market introduction, product health and product improvement. This role will take direct ownership for a major product line within the E&APSD offerings to ensure customer satisfaction and product quality objectives are being delivered
Job Purpose
The Product Support Engineer will be accountable for systems and processes to support product quality management of the Advanced Power Products offerings and any associated service offerings. This will require the position to take the lead within the product support team to identify system or process improvement opportunities and initiate action to deliver solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for communicating improvement opportunities within E&APSD to ensure alignment and integration within the division. This position will be responsible for on-going management of the product quality systems and processes to meet defined quality targets.
Job Duties
Develop systems or processes to assist in managing issue identification, reporting and resolution
Leads and/or assists in development of new product support processes during product or services launch
Leads process improvement projects within the E&APSD product support team
Ownership of internal product support systems and processes
Responsible for monitoring overall product health of new product offerings including quality and performance metrics
Support NPI readiness plans and strategies for new electrification and advanced power offerings
Work across functional teams to identify, launch, support and communicate CPI projects to improve product performance
Facilitate root cause investigations and corrective actions to minimize impact to our customers
Provide SME support of E&APSD product to our internal partners and dealerships
Conduct dealer and customer visits to provide support for new product introduction or assist with technical issues
10% travel time required
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of product support related experience and/or field experience
Expert communicator, proficient at building collaborative partnerships and working across internal and external organisational boundaries. Proven record of stakeholder management.
Experience with customer issue management systems and CPI
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Bachelor's Degree
High level of product knowledge, good mechanical aptitude, and analytical ability
Track record of creative problem-solving, continuous improvement and change management.
Technical competent, able to understand and communicate challenging engineering concepts
