Navy Software Engineer

Serco is seeking an energetic self-starter who wants to be part of a new ship building program to support the customer's program office. Our team supports the customer in the design, construction, and test of the U.S. Navy's new Fast Frigate warship. Reporting to the Serco Lead Cybersecurity Engineer, you will lead the review of contractor furnished software delivered to the customer for integration into the platform. With minimal supervision, conduct review of software lines of code upon delivery from the shipbuilder to ensure compliance with agreed upon specifications.
In this role, you will:
Interface directly with government customers, software developers, and active members of the user population to gain a complete understanding of the software pseudocode, its intended operations, and all input/output requirements.
Work with clients, users, and management to resolve issues and validate programming and cybersecurity requirements within the system code. Assists with determining logic procedures, prepares flowcharting and recommendations for code corrections to address potential problems with software security and efficiency.
Validate code against software security specifications to ensure the delivered software package meets U.S. Navy requirements.
Assist the U.S. Navy test team in developing test scripts that will verify the proper functionality of the software code under controlled lab test environments.
Develop briefing presentations and other written reports of analysis, and findings for briefing to government clients.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
A current or active DoD Secret clearance.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, plus five to seven years of coding experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. In those cases, references will be required to validate experience cited.
Five to seven years of professional coding experience with object-oriented programming languages.
A strong programming background is a must.
Experience with software development tools and programming languages.
The ability to work independently reviewing software code and report findings and analysis back to the team both orally and in writing.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills necessary to function within a team environment.
