Job Summary:

The snowflake system DBA has primary responsibility to manage and optimize Snowflake databases. This includes monitoring, optimizing, disaster recovery strategies, Level 4 user support, and ensuring the proper security controls are in place.

What You Will Do:

Provide technical leadership for all aspects of environment management such as database lifecycle management, monitoring, support, disaster recovery, compliance, and standards.

- Research new Snowflake features, tools, and technologies with an Enterprise perspective to meet customer needs while maintaining a secure Snowflake environment.

- Research, benchmark, and suggest improvements to database support processes, customer experience (CX) improvements, and compliance requirements.

- Provide 3rd and 4th level support for complex issues.

- Participate in and manage Snowflake related projects, audits, and compliance reviews and testing.

- Develop new and update existing Snowflake technology related documentation as needed.

- Coach and communicate information to Caterpillar's application support teams and peers across the enterprise on Snowflake technology changes, new features, key projects, and customer experience improvements.

What You Have: Format: 4-5 bullets related to skills and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and IT related experience* - 1-2 years experience in Snowflake System Administration* - Detailed driven, analytical with problem-solving skills* - Strong skills in communication and collaboration* - Basic understanding of data pipeline engineering and ETL / ELT tools- Strong programming skills and working knowledge of Java script, procedural SQL, and Python - Intermediate skills in database performance and SQL query tuning - Database design and management experience - Basic networking experience - Knowledge of data warehousing principles* - Experience with Data Visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Thoughtspot)

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.Level Working Knowledge: - Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.- Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up-to-date on technical and procedural job components.- Applies technical operating and project standards based on achieving excellence in delivered products, technologies and services.- Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in one's general area of technical competence.- Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.

  • Preferred: - SnowPro Certification - AWS and Azure experience - Experience in implementing machine learning models for data analysis, prediction, and optimization.- Familiarity with popular AI framework and libraries- Project Management skills - IT Service Management (ITSM) process and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
