What We're Looking For

This position is open to any candidates living near cities where HNTB has an office location. Will also consider remote work for the right candidate (US locations only). Visit https://www.hntb.com/locations/ for a list of all office locations.

The candidate will be working within HNTB's Technology Solutions Center on the Geospatial Solutions Team. Comprised of business analysts, GIS developers, planners and engineers, this team works on the most complex geospatial applications in the transportation industry. The geospatial team develops enterprise GIS solutions, applications, and databases and coordinates with HNTB client's server and data warehouses to support and develop digital innovation solutions with a geospatial focus.

This is a principal level position, working alongside other senior GIS development staff and team leaders, guiding junior staff, and establishing technical standards or procedures for succsseful, quality delivery of HNTB technology projects.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Establishing a repeatable solution to de

  • Leading designing and development of customized GIS web applications using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, and Esri JavaScript API,

  • Leading performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing of applications

  • Deploying custom webapplications/services to cloud-hosted services, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud (AWS experience preferred)

  • Assisting with end user support and contributing to support documentation

  • Meeting with client and technology staff to define and document system requirements

  • Working closely with other developers and architects

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with using game engines (i.e., Unity, Unreal) to create immersive web or mobile applications, especially using 3D GIS or CAD data as the input.

  • 2+ years' experience with the Angular Framework (version 9), preferably with NgRx state management

  • 6+ years' experience with the latest ArcGIS API for JavaScript (4.x); Experience with version 4.18+ ES modules; Experience integrating with a modern JavaScript framework like Angular

  • 6+ years' experience with ArcGIS REST API's for ArcGIS Online and Server / Portal

  • Experience using ArcGIS API for Python, Pandas, arcpy and other relevant Python libraries to interact with and extend ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Online services

  • Expertise in the application of ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro

  • Understanding and exposure to various databases such as Oracle or SQL Server; developing and configuring web services for data exchange

  • GIS analysis skills; especially in the realm of transportation

  • Familiar with scripting languages such Python and SQL

  • Experience developing C#/.NET web applications

  • Experience developing serverless API's using AWS Lambda / API Gateway

  • Experience creating and using AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) templates

  • GISP Certification

  • Cloud Certification

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Viewed as an expert resource in geospatial technologies and application, provides mentoring, technical and design guidance to others. May coordinate the day to day work of the team.

  • Uses expertise in technologies to work on the most complex and impactful projects involving geospatial systems. Leads and manages all aspects of multiple strategic projects, actively managing budget and schedule, project communications and documentation.

  • Develops or customizes highly complex geospatial applications and interfaces using advanced programming tools and languages.

  • Develops project scopes, fees and proposals for review by management.

  • Leads meetings with clients and technology staff to define and document system requirements.

  • Stays abreast of changes in geospatial technology practices and recommends changes to technology, methodology and process standards, interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices/solutions.

  • Develops measures from data that can be used for continuous improvement of processes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Geography or other related degree

  • 8 years related experience

  • In lieu of education, 12 years related experience

Pay Range for Denver, CO: $103,986.43 - $162,645.45

  • Actual Compensation will be dependent upon the individual's qualifications, skills and experience as well as physical work location within the state.
