Job Summary:

Caterpillar's Supply Chain Planning Engineer will provide leadership in strategic capacity planning for Caterpillar Suppliers worldwide. Your primary responsibility will be establishing capacity needs, executing statistical analysis of product demand, and provide insights into current state capabilities and future needs. What you will do:

  • Leading cross functional projects focused on supplier capacity, agility, and associated supply chain concepts.

  • Coordinates and manages a portfolio of procurement categories deploying the Enterprise Product Plan for Suppliers (EPP-S), which develops the long-term capacity plan for suppliers.

  • Work and communicate effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams to apply the capacity planning process and lead team efforts to develop gap closure plans for suppliers.

  • Take an enterprise-wide view of supply chain and capacity planning processes and tools, as well as leverage a thorough knowledge of manufacturing and agility to coordinate the efforts of multiple teams across functions and divisions.

  • Leads team efforts to gather and analyze data on value stream/product family level to define capacity and agility requirements for each supplier based on statistical modeling and product insights.

  • Uses statistical data from the EPP-S toolset to drive capacity planning efforts with key suppliers.

  • Coordinates with the procurement manager in the documentation of this data into the EPP-S tool.

  • Lead work teams consisting of members from multiple functions, driving collaboration and communication across divisions, including Purchasing, IT Support personnel, product group personnel, and global supply chain members.

  • Support efforts to ensure NPI and Engineering / Change Control impacts are considered in strategic capacity planning.

What you will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related quantitative field

AND

  • 3+ years of supply chain, manufacturing engineering, or other relevant work experience

OR

  • 7+ years of manufacturing or supply chain experience

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Experience and knowledge of capacity planning concepts and tools.

  • Experience and knowledge of supply chain principles, specifically those applied to capacity planning, agility planning

  • Knowledge of complex statistical concepts and tools.

  • Requires cross-functional work team leadership skills and communication.

  • Strong understanding and previous experience using common supply chain systems, and the ability to coordinate facility efforts with large-scale enterprise transformations.

  • Knowledge and / or experience deploying using 6 Sigma Project Management principles.

  • Must possess excellent leadership skills to effectively lead supply chain improvements making the best use of available resources, while maintaining strong people focus and fulfilling the responsibilities for leading people.

  • Must possess extremely strong collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills to drive common supply chain processes across multiple departments within a business division.

  • Must have advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to creatively solve very complex problems.
