This Principal Systems Engineer position requires at least a DoD Top Secret (SCI eligibility) clearance and able to support Special Access Programs (SAP). This position is located in El Segundo, CA.
Responsibilities
FTI is looking for an Principal Systems Engineering professional (with some software exposure) to join our growing organization. This position requires experience with space systems and intel community (IC). A keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and solid knowledge base are essential. The Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) project office is seeking a Ground Command & Control (C2) Integration Engineer to support EGS integration with ground systems and other US Space Force (USSF) mission areas. This work will primarily be performed in at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, CA, with travel to integration sites as required. This is a subject matter expert whose primary responsibilities include:
Evaluating the planning, implementation, and growth of the Government infrastructure reference architecture.
Assessing the program's effectiveness to coordinate with mission partners to ensure the effective build, release, and configuration management of applications in their project spaces.
Assessing the program's effectiveness coordinate with mission partners, enterprise helpdesks, and Tier 3 developers to analyze and troubleshoot infrastructure and platform issues in a tenant's project space.
Analyzing and making recommendations concerning mission partner systems development and approach that result in scalable, fault tolerant approaches to integrate complex, diverse product sets into existing infrastructure frameworks.
Analyzing and assessing current information technology environment and determine best low-risk, high outcome integration options for meeting mission operation goals.
Analyzing and aiding mission partners in the identification and resolution of networking, systems engineering, application dependencies ensuring a functional integrated end-to-end system.
Determine operational approaches and associated business processes, such as provisioning, for optimizing implementation success for deployed technologies.
Analyzing hybrid cloud strategies, infrastructures and its relationship to mission partner project spaces.
Analyzing recommendations concerning detailed documentation (e.g., deficiency report and software promotion documentation) for repeatability and requirements traceability across the enterprise.
Analyzing mission partner capacity management plans and operating thresholds and recommend implementation of tools and techniques to measure, monitor, notify and report environment health issues.
Analyzing test scenarios and plans for ensuring scalability, repeatability, resilience, and administrative operations of integrated solutions.
Diagnosing performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to mission partner deployments into their project spaces.
Supporting analysis and providing recommendations for the timely resolution of mission partner dependencies that impact end-to-end system performance.
Developing, implementing, and transitioning to operations for space and ground system projects
Execute transition from R&D project phase to Full Operational Concept implementation
Monitoring execution and assessing performance of development contractors
Drafting program documentation, critically reviewing requirements, analyzing proposed cost and schedule plans, and identifying program inconsistencies
Coordinating efforts with the USSF, USAF, IC and external agencies to align resources and execute in accordance with leadership priorities

Education/Qualifications
+ + Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
Master's degree in Engineering strongly preferred
15+ years actively working as Systems Engineer (background in Space Systems)
Experience working with MBSE tools (e.g. Sparx EA, Cameo, etc.) and system architecture development
Experience with architecture development and familiarity with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and related architecture guidance
Ability to think critically, synthesize information from multiple sources into comprehensive plans, identify technical issues, and understand higher level impacts
Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Ability to work independently with geographically dispersed teams
