Summary You will serve as a Wood Worker Leader in the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO. Responsibilities You will use all types of packing and preservation equipment and associated hand tools You will perform work operation relative to the shipment of material and equipment to include receipt, material validation, woodworking, packing and preservation You will be responsible for the direction and coordination of trades and labor work activities and functions You will answer employee's questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and other directions You will cut and assemble wood framing, install shock mounts, and cradle or cushion fragile items. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on my own initiative including the receipt, material validation/review, woodworking, packing, preservation and documents preservation for the shipment of materials and equipment; Receiving and checking incoming material and validating against shipping document to ensure correctness of item and quality; constructing customer boxes and crates to include those with detailed features for wavy, bulky, fragile materials to insure their safe shipment and storage; leading work related to planning, constructing and repairing a variety of supply, shipping and storage containers and similar items; constructing wooden parts, dunnage, or sections used to secure or encase items in containers or hold boxes in place; assemble boxes, crates and platforms by joining nailing, screwing, bolting and /or applying metal scrapping; Ability and skill to determine from packing manuals and regulations the materials and methods required for the work in consideration of size, type, weight, fragility, mode of transportation and destination of item Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
