Job Description
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Basic Qualifications
Associates Degree and 1 year of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associates degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associates degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associates degree.
Preferred Qualifications
This is a multidisciplinary position (HM&E) providing technical support for shipboard / shop trades in a waterfront environment to support On-Site and / or Off-Site Submarine Fleet Support work. Desirable attributes (or equivalent) include waterfront experience and ability to work in a fast paced environment with other engineers and designers. Candidate shall be able to read drawings and provide technical instructions to the trades. Candidate shall also be proficient technical writing, have knowledge of submarine systems, and have experience with SUBSAFE. Knowledge of SUBSAFE requirements is desired. This position requires travel to various Naval facilities for extended periods of time to support ShipAlt installations.
