Summary You will serve as a Transportation Assistant in the Transportation Division of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE. Supervisor of Shipbuilding Gulf Coast is the Navy's agency that administers shipbuilding and ship repair contracts with major shipbuilding contractors by providing engineering, quality assurance, contract management, and financial services to streamline how shipbuilding contractors provide ships and craft to our Navy. Duty station is located in Pascagoula, MS Responsibilities You will collaborate with federal agencies, contractor personnel, ships personnel and commercial carriers to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of all shipments to support ship milestones and schedules. You will generate shipping messages and labels. You will maintain logs on completed and pending shipments. You will generate and review files for incoming shipments that are damaged, and are short/over quantity. You will prepare documentation as necessary for complex and hazardous shipments. You will monitor the loading and unloading of carriers' to ensure timely delivery of equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-06 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates performing transportation work that includes utilizing and knowledge of standardized transportation regulations, procedures, and operations and resolving a wide range of transportation problems associated with generating, reviewing, signing Government/Commerical Bills of Lading, manifests, transportation control documents, and all documents necessary for shipment. Examples of credible specialized experience may include some or all of the following: 1.) Prepares all documentation necessary for shipment of material. 2.) Determines mode of transportation based on weight and priority of materials. 3.) Monitors the loading and unloading of equipment to ensure prompt delivery. 4.) Maintain logs on damaged equipment and incorrect inventory. 5.) Analyze documents to ensure compliance of contract requirements and transportation regulations.
